Due to hereditary genetics, （Singaporean singer）Chen Yi has been  undergoing regular breast cancer screening. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine scan last year.  Through her positive outlook, support from her family  and perseverance in her treatment, her cancer went into remission successfully. From a head of black luscious hair to it disappearing due to her chemotherapy - she has came a long way. I learned about her remission when she came back this year and got herself a gentle tiger ferociously crouching on a breast cancer ribbon, symbolizing her rebirth and successful battle against breast cancer. I‘m also very happy for her remission and that she can return to her first love - music. It may take sometime for her luscious head of hair to grow back, but that doesn’t affect her natural beauty one bit. Can‘t wait to hear her new songs soon!
My birthmark coverup technique starts from grading the color of the birthmark. Lighter brown or green types will usually mean a successful Coverup. But for darker brown or black marks with hair growth it‘ll requires a doctor’s visit first. For birthmarks that despite laser removal or excision would usually result in a 90% rebound even after a successful Coverup. If clients are willing to accept the risks, then we‘ll proceed with caution.

In this case, after discussing with the client, we’ve decided to take an integrative route. After considering the client‘s  preference for sizing and elements, we’ve decided on a sunflower. The mole became part of the sunflower bud. Overall it looks well integrated and doesn‘t look out of place.
Full Leg Sleeve Varicose Vein Coverup
This client came in to coverup her unsightly varicose  veins on her legs which had plagued her for many years and even after numerous visits to the doctor's for intervention treatment, a lot of it still remains. Our unique take on traditional shuimo watercolor flowers allowed her to be confident again and strut around town in shorts or miniskirts once again after years of hiding.

Star Wars Themed Full Sleeve Tattoo
Client's initial brief was for a more cutesy cartoony feel. But after I came up with the storyboard he found it was overly cute for his liking. After another round of brainstorming back and forth, he settled for a more anime comic book style look. Before each session he would shave his arm thoroughly and endure a 5-6 hours per sitting for a total of 6 sessions on total. The full sleeve add designed according to the concept he had, while the integration of the elements, background and color matching etc. were done with my input. This client is a true diehard Star Wars fan. Each character represents a family member of his. Every minute detail carries a certain memory of his. Hence this type of souvenir makes more economical and sentimental sense than those collectible figurines... One investment and it's yours for life!
